Beschreibung
Monkey D. Ruffy, originally known as Monkey D. Luffy, and also commonly referred to as Straw Hat Ruffy (Japanese: 麦わらのルフィ, Mugiwara no Rufi) or simply Straw Hat, is the protagonist of the manga and anime series, One Piece. His ultimate dream is to become the Pirate King, as he believes it would grant him the greatest freedom. To achieve this, he must find the legendary treasure known as "One Piece," which is said to have been hidden by the Pirate King Gol D. Roger somewhere in the Grand Line. Consequently, he began his career as a pirate at the age of 17. Some of his distinguishing features include the straw hat he received from his mentor, Shanks, and his Devil Fruit powers, which allow him to stretch his body like rubber.
He is the son of Monkey D. Dragon, the world's most wanted man and the leader of a global revolution, the grandson of Monkey D. Garp, the "Hero of the Marines," the adopted son of the mountain bandit Dadan, and the self-proclaimed brother of "Fire Fist" Puma D. Ace and Sabo, who holds the title of "Number Two" in Dragon's revolutionary army. During his journey, the pirate from East Blue encounters many new companions, some of whom join him, and his pirate crew grows into a small but formidable group. Throughout their long voyage, they defeat one enemy after another, gain worldwide fame through their actions, and become a problem that the World Government can no longer ignore. During their first visit to the Sabaody Archipelago, Ruffy is identified as one of the Eleven Supernovas, promising newcomers with bounties exceeding 100 million Berries. Two years later, Ruffy is recognized as part of the Worst Generation, known for their extraordinary deeds. His growing global attention culminates in his appointment as the Fifth Emperor by the World Economic Newspaper following the events in Totto Land. After his victory over Kaido, this title is further solidified, and he is counted among the new Four Emperors alongside Shanks, Blackbeard, and Buggy. As a result, Ruffy is now part of a group that is closest to reaching the One Piece.
However, it's not just the title of Emperor that irks the World Government. In Ruffy's name, there is the enigmatic "D." which the government previously attempted to erase, even in the case of the Pirate King Gol D. Roger. Initially, Ruffy's full name was mentioned on his wanted posters, but after the fall of two Emperors on Wano Country, the Five Elders unsuccessfully ordered the removal of the "D." from Ruffy's name as well. Furthermore, by consuming and awakening his Devil Fruit, which is actually the Human-Human Fruit, Model: Nika, Ruffy becomes the embodiment of the Sun God Nika, a mystical warrior from a long-standing legend. This legend is often told among slaves who hope that Nika will free them, earning him the title of the Warrior of Liberation. On the other hand, Zunisha is convinced that he has recognized Joy Boy for the first time in 800 years in the form of Ruffy. The fact that Nika has reappeared through Ruffy after such a long time greatly disturbs the Five Elders.
